You made it past Monday - plot twist, you’re still standing!
Meanwhile, in NYC, a doctor has been handing out fake Botox, like party favors. Just when you thought your week was off to a smooth start… 👀
So, buckle up - because today’s edition is packed with wild news, including the Botox scandal and much more!
Let me tell you the story of the fake Botox
There’s a fine line between a good deal and a huge mistake, and some New Yorkers just found out the hard way.
Joey Grant Luther, a so-called aesthetician, was arrested this week for injecting clients with counterfeit Botox from China. And no, he wasn’t even legally allowed to administer it in the first place.
His clients, lured in by cheap prices and a charming personality, had no idea they were getting knockoff Botox.
But when side effects like double vision, slurred speech, and even temporary paralysis kicked in, reality hit - hard.
One client even ended up in the hospital with botulism toxin.
Luther, who ran JGL Aesthetics, disappeared when complaints started rolling in. Now, he’s out on $100K bail, facing up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud, smuggling, and administering misbranded drugs.
BTW, do you still have TikTok installed?
If yes, this might happen to you
So, after that brief TikTok blackout in the U.S., most of us were relieved when the app came back online, and even better - our algorithms seemed to bounce back pretty quickly.
But now, there’s a new worry spreading: TikTok might automatically uninstall itself from your phone.
One TikTok user, Isaiah Jaay, shared his frustrating experience when his phone tried to update TikTok, but since it's no longer available in the app stores, it ended up getting deleted.
He woke up to a pop-up saying he couldn’t download TikTok because it’s missing from the app store. The app wouldn’t open after that, leaving him pretty upset.
Here’s the thing - if this happens to you, there is a way to prevent it. To avoid TikTok being uninstalled due to automatic updates, you need to turn off automatic updates on your phone.
For Android users: Go into your settings, then tap on "network preferences." From there, you can turn off "auto-update apps." For iPhone users: Head to your settings, then click on "App Store." You’ll see an option to toggle off "app updates."
