Now, let’s start with the day…
⚠️ Listeria in the Chicken?
If you’ve shopped at Costco recently, you might want to pay attention to some important recall news. Over the past week and a half, the warehouse giant has pulled several items off the shelves due to potential listeria contamination.
Just this Thursday, they announced two recalls: the Readywise 110 Serving Emergency Protein Bucket and Red’s Southwestern Grill Chicken Mini Burritos. And it didn’t stop there - earlier this week, on Monday, they recalled 10 lots of El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken & Cheese Taquitos. Plus, on October 11, Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara and Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken & Portobello Mushroom Sauce also made the recall list.
So, what’s going on?
Readywise, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, said the recall stems from chicken supplied by one of their vendors that may have been contaminated with listeria. They’re urging customers to return the product for a full refund - so if you’ve got one of these buckets sitting in your pantry, don’t eat it!
Red’s Mini Burritos are specifically impacted by the recall due to the same contamination concerns, and they’re also asking customers to return them to Costco for a refund.
Meanwhile, the El Monterey taquitos are part of a broader USDA Class 1 recall linked to potential listeria contamination at BrucePac's facility in Oklahoma. This recall affects not just Costco but also numerous other establishments across the nation.
The affected Rana products were sold between September and October 2024, so if you’ve purchased any of these meal kits, it’s best to play it safe and return them.
Remember, listeria can be particularly dangerous for older adults, pregnant women, and anyone with a weakened immune system. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, and even more severe issues like confusion and loss of balance. So, if you think you’ve consumed any of these recalled products and start feeling unwell, it’s crucial to seek medical attention.
BTW, McDonald’s just did us wrong!
If you’ve been eagerly waiting for the return of that iconic sandwich - McRib, we’ve got some exciting news - it's back at McDonald's! But, before you rush to the drive-through, there’s a twist that might surprise you.
For those who adore the McRib, it’s always been a special treat, but this time, it’s not exactly the same as you remember. The classic McRib is made with tender pork, slathered in barbecue sauce, and topped with pickles and onions.
Sounds delicious, right? So, what’s different?
In the good old days, the pork was dipped right into that rich barbecue sauce before being piled onto the bun, which created that deliciously messy experience we all loved (even if it got a bit sticky).
Now, it looks like McDonald’s is taking a different approach. Instead of immersing the meat in sauce, they’re now using a tube to squirt the sauce directly onto the bun. While the ingredients are still the same, this new application method has left many fans feeling a little disappointed.
Now, if you’re in the UK, you can already grab a McRib, but the good news is that it’s set to make its way to the US in November. Just keep in mind that it’s a limited-time offer, so you’ll need to act fast if you want to try this new version of the McRib before it’s gone again.
So, that’s it for today. Let’s meet again tomorrow 👋 Till then, stay safe!
