Hi-lo! How you guys feeling this morning? We are so thrilled that we started our day early. Wanna know our secret?
We played a hand of UNO with our team before we started working.
But why? It’s important we understand the crucial role of an energized mind in boosting productivity. A stressed mind can never function at its full capacity.
So, that’s your task of the day. Have fun with your team & blow off some steam (oh wow! that rhymed 😛)
Now, let’s get started with today’s issue.
💰 40 MILLION Europeans are broke!
Imagine working hard all year, only to find out you can't afford a vacation.
That’s the reality for nearly 40 million Europeans, or about 15% of the EU's workforce, who are stuck in what's being dubbed “holiday poverty.”
According to the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), this trend is not just about missing out on beach selfies and poolside cocktails; it's affecting people's mental and physical well-being. Despite Europe's generous leave policies, many are left daydreaming about far-off places rather than actually visiting them.
But why is there so much noise about some people not being able to take a vacation?
We’ve heard it countless times how a break or a vacation is important for our mental and physical health. Here’s the actual meaning of it (& it’s serious!) 👇
📌 Enhanced Brain Plasticity
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to adapt and reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. This adaptability is crucial for learning, memory, and cognitive development. When you take a vacation, you expose yourself to new experiences and environments, which can significantly impact neuroplasticity in several ways, including increased cognitive flexibility, improved memory and learning, etc.
📌 Longer Life Span
Vacations provide a much-needed break from daily stressors. Chronic stress is a significant contributor to heart disease and other health issues. Studies have shown that people who take regular vacations are less likely to suffer from heart attacks and strokes. By reducing stress, vacations can help boost immunity, making you less susceptible to illness.
📌 Improved Financial Management
Creating a vacation budget helps you prioritize expenses. You'll learn to distinguish between needs (transportation, accommodation) and wants (souvenirs, dining out), making informed financial decisions. This research skill can be applied to other areas of your financial life.
Another thing, saving for a vacation teaches patience and the value of delaying immediate gratification for a larger reward.
So, that’s why we’re bothered.
🍜 Korean Air: Bye Bye Noodles!
Starting August 15, Korean Air is giving instant noodles the boot from its economy class menu—talk about a turbulent breakup!
The airline has noticed a rise in turbulence incidents since 2019 and decided that hot noodles in cramped spaces could lead to some seriously scalding situations. So, instead of the beloved noodle cups, economy passengers will now munch on sandwiches, corn dogs, pizza, and "Hot Pockets"—because who doesn’t love a good turnover?
Business and first-class folks, don’t worry, your noodle fix isn’t going anywhere; they’ll still get their ramen served with a side of safety. So, bon appétit!
So, that’s it for today. Let’s meet again tomorrow 👋 Till then, stay curious, and keep vacationing!
