Hey there,
Welcome to another Thursday edition of our newsletter! Every week, we bring you stories that matter - sometimes shocking, sometimes bizarre, but always worth knowing.
This time, we’re unpacking a big one: Trump’s bold idea to “take over” Gaza.
But that’s not all. Did you know Coca-Cola has been legally importing coca leaves and producing pure cocaine for over a century?
So, buckle up - this edition is packed. Let’s dive in.
Trump says Palestinians should leave Gaza permanently
Trump just suggested the U.S. "take over" the Gaza Strip.
He said America could send troops to take control, clean up the mess, and rebuild it into a sort of "Riviera."
His plan also involves relocating Palestinians, suggesting they move out of Gaza because, according to him, it’s been “hell” for them. He even mentioned that they could return later but not as permanent residents.
Many believe it could make things worse, with neighboring countries rejecting the notion of taking in more Palestinian refugees.
Even some American politicians, like Senator Lindsey Graham, aren’t exactly on board with sending U.S. troops there.
So, here’s what Coca-Cola is doing
Did you know there’s a small facility in New Jersey that legally imports coca leaves and manufactures pure cocaine?
The Stepan Company has an exclusive DEA license to process coca leaves for Coca-Cola, stripping them of cocaine to make a special syrup for the soda.
But what happens to the leftover cocaine?
It’s sold to pharmaceutical companies, mainly Mallinckrodt, to be used as a numbing agent for medical procedures.
This secretive operation has been running for over 100 years, quietly tucked away in a neighborhood, producing up to $2 billion worth of pure cocaine annually.
While importing coca leaves has been illegal since 1921, Coca-Cola has managed to keep its century-old exemption. The company may have removed cocaine from its recipe long ago, but the coca leaf remains a key ingredient - just minus the high.
This famous influencer FAKED her cancer
Belle Gibson, once celebrated as a wellness entrepreneur in Australia, rose to fame with her app ‘The Whole Pantry’ and a story claiming to have terminal brain cancer.
Her app's success, a lucrative book deal, and social media following helped her amass significant wealth.
However, it was later revealed that she never had cancer. Gibson's refusal to apologize or acknowledge her actions added to the controversy, and she denied suffering from mental illnesses despite the possibility of Munchausen syndrome.
Her claims of donating large sums to charity were also found to be false, and major companies like Penguin and Apple severed ties with her once the truth emerged.
Her public exposure led to her rapid downfall, but she resisted taking full responsibility for her actions, even during a widely publicized interview.
Despite the damage to her reputation, she avoided criminal charges but was fined for misleading conduct.
Oh, and Kanye reveals he has autism
Kanye West recently claimed that he was "misdiagnosed" with bipolar disorder and instead has autism.
He credited his partner, Bianca Censori, for encouraging him to seek a second opinion, stating, “Something about your personality doesn't feel like it's bipolar.”
Kanye suggested that his controversial public behavior stems from "the constant feeling of not being in control."
He also revealed that he has stopped taking his prescribed medication, believing it hindered his creativity. His revelation adds another layer to the ongoing discussions about his mental health and public actions.
