Laura Barajas’s story
She is a 40-year-old mom from California who went through an unimaginable ordeal after eating contaminated fish.
In July 2023, she bought tilapia from a local market in San Jose. After cooking and eating it, she started feeling unwell, but things quickly spiraled out of control.
Her symptoms worsened, and she was hospitalized within days. Doctors had to place her in a medically induced coma as her condition became critical. By September, Laura had developed severe sepsis, her kidneys were failing, and her limbs were turning black. To save her life, surgeons had to amputate all four of her limbs.
Her friend Anna Messina Anna started a GoFundMe to help with Laura’s mounting medical bills, raising over $147,000 so far.
This teen killed people to ‘be a celebrity’
A teenager appeared at Swansea Crown Court after stabbing two teachers and a pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Carmarthenshire last April.
Charged with three counts of attempted murder, she admitted to the attacks but denied trying to kill anyone.
The court heard chilling details:
She described the stabbings as "one way to be a celebrity" because it would make everyone focus on her.
The attack began during a morning break when she stabbed assistant head Fiona Elias, shouting, "I’m going to kill you."
Teacher Liz Hopkin tried to step in but was stabbed multiple times.
The teenager then moved on to a fellow pupil, attacking them as well.
The school went into lockdown for four hours, with pupils and staff barricading themselves in classrooms. Later, police found disturbing drawings at her home, some mocking Ms. Elias and others depicting violent themes.
BTW, some good news! India and China finally resume direct flights after 5 years
This decision comes after a meeting in Beijing between India’s top diplomat Vikram Misri and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Both sides are keen to address trade and economic issues, with talks about restarting flights expected soon. China emphasized the need for “mutual support” instead of suspicion, and India is looking for transparency and predictability in economic policies.

Check out Apple’s cheapest phone
The iPhone SE has always been Apple’s budget-friendly little sibling, and while it gets the job done, it’s never been the star of the show.
Now, with rumors swirling about the upcoming iPhone SE 4, fans are curious and maybe a little disappointed.
One big letdown?
The SE 4 might not get the Dynamic Island, Apple’s cool notch replacement that debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro.
If you haven’t seen it, Dynamic Island is a sleek, interactive space that displays useful app info, like your Uber ride status, timer countdowns, or what’s playing on Spotify, all without switching apps.
It’s a small but incredibly handy feature, and iPhone users love it.
Oh, and the Doomsday Clock is closer than ever to midnight
The Doomsday Clock has ticked closer to disaster, now set at just 89 seconds to midnight - the closest we’ve ever been to global catastrophe.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the brains behind this symbolic clock, announced the update after weighing a heavy list of threats: nuclear risks, AI disruptions, the Russia-Ukraine war, escalating conflicts in Israel, bio-threats, and, of course, the relentless climate crisis.
Founded in 1947 by legends like Einstein and Oppenheimer, the Doomsday Clock was created as a wake-up call for humanity. Back then, it started at seven minutes to midnight.
