Hello everyone! As we roll into the final edition of the week, we want to take a moment to thank you for being here. This week has been a whirlwind of stories, insights, and a few surprises, and we’re thrilled to wrap it up with something special.
But before we get started, let’s give you a task for the weekend:
📌 Gather magazines, printouts, or your own drawings and create a vision board for your future goals.
By selecting images, words, and symbols that resonate with your aspirations, a vision board helps you clearly define what you want to achieve in different areas of your life. This process can bring vague ideas into sharper focus. It’s also an uplifting exercise, as you’re focusing on positive future outcomes, which can boost your mood and outlook.
Now, let’s get started…
REVEALED: Facebook is Black!
Some Facebook users are scratching their heads as they notice their beloved blue app icon has suddenly taken a walk on the dark side—literally! For reasons unknown, Facebook’s once familiar blue and white logo has mysteriously turned black, leaving many wondering if their phones are playing tricks on them.
Naturally, the internet being the internet, users took to social media to speculate. Reddit threads are buzzing with people sharing their "is this just me?" moments, with some going so far as to uninstall and reinstall the app multiple times in a desperate bid to restore Facebook to its former blue glory. But alas, the dark icon persists.
Some theories floating around suggest that this odd transformation might be linked to iOS18’s dark mode features, currently in beta. But then, plot twist: some users with the old iOS noticed the change too.
So, the mystery deepens—could this be a glitch? Or maybe, just maybe, Facebook is pulling a fast one on us, giving the app a makeover to grab our attention. You know, like when Duolingo’s owl starts melting because you haven’t practiced in a while? (More)
But hey, while we wait for the answers to this Facebook conundrum, why not get ahead of the curve with something that’s no mystery at all?

BTW, we weren’t kidding about Bill Gates giving the rich malaria.
Here’s the full story:
At a 2009 TED talk, Bill Gates did something unexpected—he released a swarm of mosquitoes into the audience and quipped, "There's no reason just poor people should enjoy the experience." This bold move wasn't just for shock value; it was Gates' way of driving home a point about the global importance of fighting malaria, a disease often overlooked in wealthier countries.
Gates highlighted how more money was being spent on hair loss treatments because "rich men are afflicted," drawing attention to the inequality in health research priorities. Through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he's been leading the charge against malaria for over two decades, pouring more than $400 million into vaccines, new drugs, and innovative mosquito control.
FYI, the mosquito stunt worked. It grabbed attention and made people think, proving that sometimes you need a bit of shock and humor to make a serious point. (More)
You’ll never make out in a car after reading this…
So, here’s a story that’s straight out of a movie: In Philadelphia, a couple got a little too caught up in the moment and ended up having their car roll right into the Schuylkill River. It all went down early Wednesday morning on Kelly Drive, near the Columbia Bridge. According to the police, the pair was in the backseat of their vehicle, getting a bit frisky, when the woman accidentally shifted the car into gear. Before they knew it, the car was rolling down into the river.
Luckily, they managed to escape without any injuries, but their vehicle—possibly a Land Rover or Range Rover—wasn't so lucky. It took until around 9 a.m. for the car to be pulled out of the water. (More)
BTW, this boring job is going extinct
The accounting world is facing a serious shortage right now, and it’s not just about numbers. Fewer young people are signing up for accounting degrees or taking the CPA exam, and many seasoned accountants are nearing retirement. The profession’s old-school image—long hours, low pay, and a tricky certification process—just doesn’t appeal to many Gen Z folks who are looking for careers with a bit more pizzazz and purpose.
To turn things around, experts are suggesting a few changes.
For one, they think raising salaries could make accounting more attractive. Also, making accounting education more engaging and modernizing the certification process could help draw in more candidates. (More)
This employee died at his desk…and NO ONE NOTICED!!!
Denise Prudhomme, a 60-year-old Wells Fargo employee, was found dead at her desk in Tempe, Arizona, four days after she was last seen at work. She clocked in on Friday, August 16, but it wasn't until Tuesday, August 20, that anyone realized something was wrong.
Her coworkers had noticed a weird smell but thought it was just a plumbing issue. Denise's desk was tucked away on a less-traveled floor, and with so many employees working remotely, it made it harder for anyone to check in on her. Thankfully, the police and medical examiners found no signs of foul play, though the official cause of death is still unknown. (More)
So, that’s it for today. Let’s meet again next week 👋 Till then, stay curious, and stay safe!
