Welcome to the first newsletter of the year. We are starting fresh and so should you!
But before we start, here’s a lil fun task for you:
📌 Set one powerful intention for the year ahead and write it where you’ll see it daily
Now, let’s get started…
🎯Brad Pitt finally settled the divorce
It looks like his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, played a big role in nudging him toward closure.
Apparently, Ines, who’s 31 and a jewellery designer, told Brad it was time to move on so they could start focusing on their life together - maybe even with kids in the future! I mean, who wants an eight-year "War of the Roses" hanging over their relationship, right?
Brad and Angelina have been at it since 2016, battling over everything from custody to their French winery, Chateau Miraval (yep, that’s still ongoing). They’ve been legally single since 2019, but they just officially signed the divorce papers. Progress, finally!
Sources are saying Ines is a total game-changer for Brad. She’s grounded, doesn’t let the drama phase her, and helps him keep things in perspective. They’ve been together since 2022, and they even made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. Oh, and a fun fact: Ines was previously married to Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley, so she knows a thing or two about life in the spotlight.
Meanwhile, Angelina’s lawyer says she’s relieved this chapter is over, but after eight years of legal battles, who wouldn’t be exhausted? Here’s hoping this means everyone can finally move forward.
🎯Justin Baldoni sues New York Times
Things are heating up between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, and it’s not the kind of drama anyone signed up for. Baldoni, who starred alongside Lively in It Ends With Us (and directed it), has filed a lawsuit against The New York Times. He’s calling out the paper for publishing what he says is a one-sided story about Lively accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation.
But Baldoni isn’t staying quiet. He’s firing back, saying Lively made up these accusations to take control of the film and fix her public image after some personal PR missteps. He’s got receipts, too - text messages he claims prove her allegations don’t hold water. Meanwhile, The New York Times is standing by its story, saying it was meticulously reported with thousands of documents to back it up.
🎯BTW, Israel kills Hamas commander who led heinous October 7 attack
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has confirmed the killing of Abd al-Hadi Sabah, a senior Hamas commander who was behind one of the most horrifying attacks on Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023. Remember the massacre at Kibbutz Nir Oz? Sabah led that brutal assault, where 38 people were killed, 75 were kidnapped, and the entire community was left in ruins.
This operation, carried out in southern Gaza, was planned carefully to avoid civilian harm, according to the IDF. Sabah wasn’t just responsible for that single day of terror - he’d also led numerous attacks against Israeli troops over the years.
🎯 Walmart just made Hermès Birkin bag obsolete
This year, Walmart proved it knows how to pull off a high-end look without the high-end price tag. Enter the "Wirkin" bag - Walmart’s $78 dupe of the iconic Hermès Birkin. You know, the bag that usually costs anywhere from $10,000 to over $300,000 on resale? Yeah, that one. The "Wirkin" has been all over social media, and it’s so popular it’s already sold out online.
Made of leather and rocking that signature Birkin-style lock, the bag has people buzzing. But not everyone’s thrilled. Hermès die-hards are quick to point out it’s “inspired by” the Birkin, not the real deal. One TikToker even held up her authentic Birkin to set the record straight: “It’s not a Birkin. Please don’t think you’re buying a Birkin. Because you’re not.”
🎯 Oh, and learn these 10 words from 2024. They will be of great help
Take "Ealát" from North Sami, for example - it describes the perfect snow conditions for reindeer to dig up their favorite snack, lichen.
Or "Cůme či'k t'ê?" from the nearly extinct Sarkese language, which simply asks, “How are you?” And who could resist the charm of "Gluschdich," a Pennsylvania Dutch word for when you’re not hungry but still feel like snacking? (Haven’t we all been there?)
Then there’s "Gwaan" from Jamaican Patwa, a joyful shout of celebration, and "Kalo theke aalo" from Bengali, which beautifully translates to "from darkness to hope," capturing the spirit of transitioning to renewable energy.
Then there’s Mandarin’s "Lóng juǎn fēng," or “swirling-dragon wind,” for a tornado. And let’s not forget Costa Rica’s "Pura vida," a phrase that’s all about gratitude and embracing life, no matter what challenges come your way.
